A Study Bridging Knitting Technology and Robotic Engineering

Researchers at the Soft Sensors Lab of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) have achieved a groundbreaking advancement in the field of wearable robotics.

Developed within the scope of the ERC-funded TEXWEAROTS Project, the study on a “From Knitting Technology to Robotics: Untethered Thermally Actuated Textile Exoskeleton for Dexterity Applications” has been published in Advanced Science, one of the most prestigious journals in its field. Led by Prof. Dr. Özgür Atalay from the ITU Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design, the project aims to create next-generation wearable soft robotic systems by integrating textile technologies with sensing, actuation, and energy components.
